CeaseFire Halifax was a non-profit organization which focused on eliminating violent behavior among youth in African-Nova Scotian communities. The model of the program was adopted from an organization called Cure Violence; an anti-violence initiative based in Chicago, Illinois, created in 1995 by Dr Gary Slutkin. Their unique approach to violence reduction has successfully impacted cities and communities around the world in places such as Honduras, England, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Kenya, South Africa and Iraq.
As a newly formed organization, they needed a brand that would enable them to stand out among all the other advocacy programs in the region. Marvelous Design was commissioned to create the brand, all of their promotional assets and their website.
The challenge for this project was to create an identity which accurately represented the passion of the organization, and the urgency surrounding the issue of violence in the Black community. One of the highlights was having the opportunity to work with local photographer Paul Adams to create the imagery which truly illustrated the emotional and psychological impact of community spread violence.
